Gate 11 has reappeared, although it's very sketchy to call it a gate as it's surrounded by construction work but some of the hoarding around it has gone to give the first glimpse of the actual size new extended departure lounge.
Also, anyone know if BA have an agreement in place to allow their pax use of another lounge just now? Because that whole area from gate 12 up to the domestic arrivals escalator is now cordoned off and getting ripped out.

Another entrance available to BA lounge

Hoarding up to create a new shop. New Wethersppons opens around mid November, as do various other retail units

According to the BA website there are no arrangements in place.

It does seem rather strange, not what I would expect from BA tbh. I would have expected them to use the BE or Servisair lounge but I guess it was obviously going to cost too much

It's interesting to compare how things are now, with the expansion plans published in the 90s, which set out what the airport was expected to be like in 2010;

BA "Edinburgh Terracies" lounge due to open late November, inspired by the T5 lounges apparently, hence the name I guess!

Also there are artist's impressions up of the new Wetherspoon's. Looks like they've gone for the 'old man pub' look. :lol:

Wetherspoons due to open tomorrow, still had a fair bit of work to do to it by the look of things this evening though! Seafood bar already closed down, PAUL to follow at the end of the week apparently.

The 'Sir Walter Scott' open now, looks quite nice. Looks like the BA lounge might be getting an extension too? New currency exchange now open in the main check in hall next to the main entrance too, the one on the first floor is already shut.

First time I'd seen the new departure lounge today, thumbs up from me! Boots must be about twice the size of the old landside one. Still a lot of open space (atleast for the time being) and natural light, still a lot of work to do though. Not sure about the new bogey green seats though. :lol:
Work is well underway on the immigration hall expansion too, and the first of the ticket desks have moved to the UK arrivals area in preperation for the removal of all the desks in the check-in hall. Lots of work in progress just now!

Immigration hall work now pretty much complete.
The new stands on the SE apron are just about there too, will be interesting to see what size of aircraft the corner stand 33(?) will be able to take, not that it's much just now being completely remote.

Check-in hall expansion complete, it's still not ideal but a definite improvement since the check-in hall is now glass fronted it's not as claustrophobic.

Read the other day that the new stands 32, 33 and 34 were supposed to go live on the 16th of December. However since it's been snowing since then they're are now temporarily being used to park all the snow clearing equipment when it's not being used. They all look like B738W stands to me, no safedock system either just a stop arrow so looks like a quick fix again.

Hoarding between Boots and gate 7 coming down the last week, with temporary hoarding now in place. Next part of development opens on Monday, with 3 new airside catering outlets opening. Gate 6 will also be available for use direct from terminal, rather than having to be bussed.

Nice, but with all this Icelandic volcanic ash disruption it makes you wonder whether anyone except staff wil be around to see it!
